Heat oven to 375?F. In large bowl of electric mixer, beat together butter and shortening until well blended. Beat in granulated sugar then brown sugar and vanilla. Beat in eggs one at a time, scraping down sides of bowl once. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; gradually beat into butter mixture until soft dough forms. Stir in chocolate chips, walnuts and 1/4 cup of the bacon by hand. Drop dough by heaping tablespoonful?s onto ungreased cookie sheets 2 inches apart. Press a few of the remaining bacon pieces over each cookie. Bake 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Transfer cookie sheets to wire racks; cool completely.
